What are the Donations used for?
Special Needs for the Upcoming Season of 2012:

For the new Winter Harvest Program, we need funds with which to purchase more hoophouses to produce cool weather crops throughout the normally unproductive winter months of December - Mid-April. The France Merrick Foundation and The Weinberg Foundation have made significant contributions to this program - almost 5000 sq ft of greenhouse space - but we need to double that space to even begin to meet the need for emergency food in the Baltimore Metro area. After a flurry of good will holiday donations in December, food donations evaporate in the winter months. Yet, winter is the toughest time for poor and homeless people. More than any other time of the year, they need extra healthy food to fight freezing cold temperatures.

For both the organic produce production / donation program and the new Milk & Egg Program, we need a new tractor.  We have over 80 acres of fencing to enclose, and so we need a reliable and efficient post-hole digger that only a tractor can operate.  And we can only use a tractor to plant 70 acres in annual crops.

For the new MILK & EGG PROGRAM, we need all kinds of lumber, block, nails, shingles, roof paper, all the construction materials to build sheds with which to increase our number of goats & sheep, chicken houses, and fencing.  Also, plumbing materials for installing water pipe and hydrants to bring water to the animals' paddocks.

We need funding also for general operating costs for these new programs such as egg cartons and for the fuel and maintenance of our delivery truck and for the cost of refrigeration of the eggs..
