Garden Harvest, Inc.
Details about the Registration Donation
Garden Harvest currently produces & delivers each year an average of 300,000 lbs. of
organic produce to 105 soup kitchens, emergency pantries, and homeless
shelters. We have over 400 more emergency food agencies on our
waiting list in desperate need for food for their area's poor. To fill
that need, we must produce 1,000,000 pounds of vegetables & fruit, which we
can do at a cost of only $.05 per pound.
To help us reach
this goal, we are
asking every volunteer to make a donation on their day of service.
The suggested donation amount is $10.00. If every volunteer could make this
contribution, then we could achieve this goal. Those who cannot afford the
suggested donation amount are requested to give whatever amount that is
affordable. . All donations must
be in the form of bills or check. Please, no coins, pledges or IOU's.
What if I cannot
afford to make a donation, even $1.00?
Anyone who cannot afford to make a contribution of at least $1.00 can click the option on the registration form that
gives Garden Harvest permission to use his / her name to seek a sponsor
who will make the donation specifically for that person. Our policy
is to give precedence to requests from the homeless persons living in emergency
shelters who want to volunteer. After sponsors are secured for them, then
Garden Harvest can seek sponsorships for any other volunteer who requests the
option of sponsorship. Volunteers who choose this option must
wait to hear that Garden Harvest has found a sponsor before they can
participate, so please plan ahead and give us plenty of time to find you a
sponsor before your scheduled day of service. Only
those who can make a contribution or those who have sponsors,
obtained either by the volunteer or by Garden Harvest, can volunteer at Garden Harvest.
How do I present my donation?
Several benefactors have come forward and granted an award to Garden Harvest whereby
they will add to every envelope that
contains a donation. (This includes each family member no matter how young or
old.)
Therefore, please put your donation in an envelope. If you are coming as a
couple, put your donations in two separate envelopes, If you are coming as a family, divide your donation by the number of family
members, putting each in a separate envelope. If you are bringing a group,
please put each group member's donation in a separate envelope. The envelopes should
have the name and address of the donor written or printed on the outside of the envelope.
How
and where do I make the registration donation?
All registration donations
will be collected at the gate upon
arrival. While online or mailed contributions are very important,
they cannot count towards this grant.
What if I volunteer
several times in one season: Do I make the registration donation every time I
volunteer?
Yes. We simply do not have the staff to keep track of every volunteer's
donation record. Therefore, If you think you may volunteer again in the
current season and cannot afford a registration donation of at least $1.00 each
time, please ask the volunteer coordinator to find you a sponsor before your
next visit.
