October 25, 2001, the Lieutenant
Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's annual Americorps Launch was held at
Garden Harvest with over 500 Americorps volunteers from all parts of
Maryland participating. In the 4 hours they harvested over 60,000 lbs. of
fall produce, including collards, turnips, turnip greens, and beets.

A large number
of educational institutions help out at the farm. Garden Harvest
is equipped to host hundreds of volunteers at one time, a perfect
service opportunity for an entire grade, or indeed for an entire middle
or upper school. The photo here depicts just a few of the eighth
graders from Bryn Mawr School, whose entire Middle School of
over 250 6th.7th, and 8th graders harvested almost 50,000 lbs. that day!

Just as Garden Harvest is perfect for
large school groups, so also for large Corporate Groups that want
a productive staff building day combined with meaningful
service. Such
organizations as T. Rowe Price, Wells Fargo Bank, Northrop Grumman, Fila,
Inc., McCormick, The Jewish Communitiy Times, MBNA, B,G,&E, Pfizer,
among others, have been outstanding in their help, not only of farm work,
but also in painting farm buildings (Northrop Grumman), and constructing
buildings (Wells Fargo Bank), and performing complicated mechanical
repairs on our delivery Truck (B,G,& E's fleet management team)
